The Taraba State Concerned Citizens’ Forum has again expressed dismay at the alleged manner the Senator representing the Central Senatorial zone of the State, Yusuf A.Yusuf has continued to frustrate the efforts of the Federal Government and the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The group, which made its position known via a press statement, alleged that efforts to cushion the economic hardships being faced by Tarabans, had been thwarted by the Senator.
Citing the numerous relief materials issued out to the people of the State through the Senator, by the NEDC, the group expressed sadness that the Senator, instead of distributing them to the beneficiaries, had continued to hoard the items.
Signed by the State Coordinator, Mansur Munkaila Jirgi, they urged the Senator, to as a matter of urgency, commence the distribution before it gets expired in the warehouse.
They said “it may interest you to know with greatest dismay and disappointment in the personality of Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf that NEDC has since last two years distributed relief food materials such as rice, beans, maggi, supergethi, macaronic,Turkey oil, palm oil, maize floor, garri, sugar etc. for the less privileged and the victims of insurgency across the zone through him.
“We have reliably gathered that these items were stocked in his private warehouse at the detriment of our people for his personal and selfish interest.
“It may also interest you to know with bleeding heart that the items are about to expire or get damaged by the environmental condition of the stores, while the target beneficiaries are floating within the space of hunger and social insecurity.”
Urging the people, especially the beneficiaries “to remain peaceful, law abiding and calm as we are determined to exhaust all avenues within our limit to ensure that what is meant for A is for A”, the group which issued a two-week ultimatum for the Senator to do the needful, vowed not to go to bed pending when the “interest of the citizens of our dear State is addressed. ”
When contacted through his mobile number, the Senator promised to get back to our correspondent but failed despite several hours of waiting.
