A COVID-19 patient who had fled last week's isolation centre in Jalingo, Taraba's capital, was arrested.

According to the government of the state of Taraba, Talatu Idris was returned to the insulation plant.

Dr Innocent Vakkai, Health Commissioner and Chairman of the COVID-19 Technical Committee of the State, disclosed this to reporters on Monday.

He clarified that communication tracing has begun to curtail virus spread in the community.

He also noted that there will be another round of tests for those who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier to know their current status Wednesday.
He, however, denied news of the reopening of schools and worship centres.

According to him:

”Our schools and worship centres remain closed while members of the public are urged to observe all precautionary measures outlined for safety during the two-day window allowed for movement in the state.”
He further claimed that the state will not accept Almajiri from any state from which officials of the state from which they are sent have not checked him.

Taraba has eight COVID-19 cases which are positive.
