Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Joseph Albasu Kunini, PhD has expressed the readiness of the House of Assembly to partner with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Jalingo, especially on e-Parliament and other activities.
The Speaker made the pledge on Tuesday, 16th March, 2021 when new General Manager of the NTA, Jalingo, Engr. Langaya Zevini Sabo, led the management staff of the organization to pay him a familiarization visit in his office.
According to the Speaker, he was puzzled by the farmiliarization visit, because it was first of its kind by any government agency in the State.
"I acknowledge there is a spirit of partnership between the Taraba State House of Assembly and the Nigerian Television Authority.
"A lot of agencies of government have never thought it wise to visit us, but you did.
"This visit is divine, because it is coming at a time when the House of Assembly is contemplating going into e-Parliament.
"Therefore, I feel highly honoured by the visit, led by someone who is an indigene with vast experience, working across the length and breadth of the country, whom I have never met before but have heard so much about him.
"This visit is going to spur us in the House of Assembly to do more for our people," the Speaker explained.
Earlier, in his speech, the General Manager lauded the Speaker for his sterling leadership qualities and pedigree which have attracted recognition from individuals, groups and corporate organizations, including the Nigerian Television Authority.
He then pledged that the NTA, being a partner in publicizing and educating the public on the activities of the House, was there to ask for elongation of the partnership.
He said, "Hon Speaker, I am here with the Management to familiarize myself with you and to also identify with your open door policy that has brought so much relief and hope to our people.
"NTA as an organization noted with joy the bill you personally sponsored and passed into law, the domestication of Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015 in Taraba State.
"Hon Speaker, NTA is a partner in publicizing and educating the public on the activities of the House, I am here to ask for the elongation of the partnership, i.e to publicize your programmes on NTA Parliament which can be viewed worldwide.
"I pray the Speaker will give us the opportunity to showcase the activities of of the House in our weekly programmes, news and documentary on your people's oriented style of leadership that has brought so much peace between the House and the Executive."
